Lina Lindqvist is an artist based in Stockholm, Sweden. She graduated from Umeå University in 2006 with a master’s degree in art and art history, along with additional painting studies at the art academy. With a long-term interest in architecture, she explores different places, spatiality, and its relationship to humans. Depopulated places interest her and are a recurring theme in her work. Furthermore, she explores interior spaces and how people tend to express themselves through their homes. Analyzing the secondary market for used furniture in different parts of the country generates both new interpretations of traditional still-life aesthetics, as well as a study of class and overconsumption. Born and raised in Västerbotten in northern Sweden, nature has also been a significant source of inspiration. Desolate landscapes and forests are recurring themes, often intertwined with elements drawn from urban settings and imagined environments.
